■ Transitioning to a profitability-driven business structure by moving beyond 230 kV and entering 400 kV market
■ Advancing portfolio by securing high-end product lineup equivalent to LS Cable & System headquarters
■ Responding proactively to demand for AI power grids and need to replace aging power grids
LS Eco Energy is accelerating its foray into the global power market by commercializing high-end 400 kV-class extra-high-voltage cables.
LS Eco Energy announced on the 7th that its Vietnamese production subsidiary, LS-VINA, has commenced the international certification and prequalification (PQ) processes for 400 kV-class extra-high-voltage cables.
The company says it plans to begin mass production in the second half of next year, following approximately one year of PQ, which included product performance verification and an evaluation of long-term operational reliability. PQ is a core procedure that evaluates the long-term stability of the entire system under the premise of actual power grid application. It is considered an essential requirement for winning large-scale projects for global transmission networks.
LS-VINA currently produces cables up to 230 kV class. The 400 kV class cable is a flagship extra-high-voltage product lineup manufactured by LS Cable & System. Once PQ is completed, LS Eco Energy will have secured an extra-high-voltage portfolio on par with that of LS Cable & System's headquarters.
The 400 kV-class cable is core element of power infrastructure used in national backbone transmission networks, large-scale industrial complexes, AI data centers, and interconnection grids for offshore wind and solar power. A 400 kV-class product line is highly valuable, as it enables long-distance, high-capacity power transmission and requires high standards of quality reliability and stability.
Global demand for extra-high-voltage cables is rapidly increasing as the surge in power demand from data centers aligns with the replacement of aging power grids and investments in power grid expansion in the US and Europe.
LS Eco Energy recently laid the groundwork for entering the market by securing US certification for its 230 kV-class cables. With the addition of this 400 kV-class PQ, the company will be able to participate in bidding for major global transmission network projects, further strengthening its competitive edge.
"Entering the 400 kV-class market will serve as an opportunity to accelerate our transition to a profitability-driven business structure and our expansion into advanced markets," an official from LS Eco Energy said.
